    "This dataset contains indoor particulate matter (PM) measurements from ten controlled smoke infiltration experiments conducted in the NIST Indoor Air Quality Test House, a manufactured home, between April 26 and May 31, 2024. Each experiment (a \"burn\") ignited a wood crib in an attached garage and allowed smoke to infiltrate the home, reproducing how wildland-urban interface (WUI) fire smoke enters a residence. The measurements support analysis of how indoor PM accumulates and decays during a smoke intrusion and how effectively different air-cleaning strategies protect the indoor environment.",
    "PM was recorded in two indoor locations, a bedroom and the morning room, using five instrument types spanning research-grade and low-cost sensors: a scanning mobility particle sizer (SMPS, 9 to 437 nm size distributions), two AeroTrak optical particle counters (0.3  to 25 micrometer size-resolved counts), a DustTrak DRX photometer (PM1 through total mass), two QuantAQ MODULAIR-PM sensors (both the quality-controlled cloud product and the raw 5-second on-instrument record), and a PurpleAir PA-II. Instrument availability varies by burn: the SMPS and DustTrak cover all ten burns, the bedroom AeroTrak begins at burn 3, the MODULAIR-PM units at burn 4, and the PurpleAir at burn 6. Sampling rates range from about 135 seconds per SMPS scan to 5-second raw sensor records.",
    "The dataset comprises nine CSV files, one per instrument or data product. Every file shares five leading columns: a timestamp on the instrument's native clock, a burn identifier that tags rows falling on a burn day, the measurement location, the instrument label, and the serial number. Values are released as recorded, with no artifact corrections applied, so the dataset preserves the raw instrument behavior for users who want to study it. An accompanying README documents each column and the caveats a user needs to be aware of before analysis. In brief: no gravimetric reference was collected, so there is no absolute mass anchor; the DustTrak reads high against smoke and only its total-mass channel is usable; both optical particle counter types roll over above roughly 900 micrograms per cubic meter at the burn peaks; and the MODULAIR-PM cloud product removes the peak windows, which the raw 5-second records recover.",
